Hi, my name is Leon Sherwood!

I have been the Worship Pastor at the Pacific Beach Bible Church since 1995. It has been a pleasure to serve the Lord and His people here in San Diego, and a privilege to witness the power of God to change lives and to bring hope to so many.

I did not grow up in a Christian home, nor have parents who practiced any religion. But at an early age I remember hearing someone share the message of salvation in Jesus Christ, and thinking how I needed Him as my Savior. I was about 12 years old then, and though I was not always faithful to Him, He was always faithful to me. Some years later, as a senior in high school, I went to spend the weekend at my Aunt and Uncle’s home in Orange County. It’s a weekend I will never forget. I was really there to party with my older cousin, and that’s what I did Friday and Saturday night. But early Sunday morning my uncle woke me up, invited me down for breakfast, and asked if I would be accompanying them to church, to which I said, “Of course.”

That morning, as the Pastor told the story of God’s amazing love, and the price that Jesus Christ had paid for my sin, I rededicated my life to Him, and from that moment on I was radically changed. I married my high school sweetheart, we have four amazing children, and God has truly blessed us with His love, His power, and His grace. And though life has not always been an easy road, it’s been wonderful to see God’s hand in keeping us safe when the storms of life hit. God truly is an Awesome God!
