Leon Sherwood (Minister of Music and Youth Pastor):

I have been the Minister of Music and the Youth Pastor at the Pacific Beach Bible Church for the past 11 years. It has been a pleasure to serve the Lord and His people here in San Diego, and a privilege to witness the power of God to change lives and to bring hope to so many.

I did not grow up in a Christian home, nor have parents who practiced any religion. But at an early age I can remember hearing someone share the message of salvation in Jesus Christ, and thinking how I needed Him as my Savior. I was about 12 years old then, and though I was not always faithful to Him, He was always faithful to me.

About 5 years later, as a senior in high school, I went to spend the weekend at my Aunt and Uncle's home in Orange County. It's a weekend I will never forget. I was really there to party with my older cousin, and that's what I did. After spending all of Saturday night drinking and partying with his friends, too embarrassed to have my Aunt and Uncle see me drunk, I spent the night in my cousin's car in front of their home. Sunday morning, at about 7 am, my Uncle knocked on the window of my cousin's car, invited me in for breakfast, and asked if I would be accompanying them to church. To which I said, "Of course." That morning, as the Pastor told the story of God's amazing love, and the price that Jesus Christ had paid for my sin, I rededicated my life to Him, and from that day my life was radically changed.

I married my high school sweetheart, we have four amazing children, and God has truly blessed us with His love, His power, and His grace. And though life has not always been an easy road, it's been wonderful to see God's hand in keeping us safe when the storms of life hit. God truly is an Awesome God!
